Michael Garrick was a gifted self-taught musician who after forming his first quartet whilst studying English Literature at UCL, went on to become musical director of the "Poetry & Jazz in Concert" road show.

Best known for his jazz-choral works, he went on to work with many respected jazz musicians, poets and singers and taught jazz Royal Academy of Music and at Trinity College of Music, London.

In 2010 he was awarded an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen.
